MANHATTAN, N.Y. – August 26, 2026 – Messaging strategist, author, and speaker Tammy J. Cohen will appear today at an author event at Barnes & Noble in Manhasset, New York, continuing a busy season of public speaking built around a simple but urgent idea: in a world of more devices and fewer real conversations, being present is a superpower.

Cohen, founder of TC Brand Consulting and an award-winning author of the bestselling Text Messages to My Sons: A Guide to Using Mobile Devices to Connect and Communicate with Your Kids, has spent the past two weeks carrying that message to very different audiences. On August 4, she addressed 300 women executives at the Herald Women’s Executive (WE) Summit. On August 9, she spoke at the Securing Our Future Rally. Today’s Barnes & Noble appearance adds a hometown chapter to a summer that has taken her message from the boardroom to the public square.
Cohen’s work centers on a reframe: technology is not the enemy; it is a tool, and how people choose to use it determines whether it deepens relationships or widens the distance between people. Her own journey into this mission began six years ago, not as a business idea, but as a personal one. In the early days of the pandemic, Cohen realized she hadn’t been fully present with her own family. Rather than trying to change her sons, she changed the conversation by sending them a daily message rooted in something she was learning about love, gratitude, resilience, empathy, leadership, or accountability. That daily practice, sustained over years, became the foundation for her book and for the workshop she now teaches to parents, executives, and communities nationwide.
“We have more ways to connect than ever before in history, yet more people feel disconnected than ever. Being present tells another human being: I see you, I value you, you matter,”
— Tammy J. Cohen
In her workshops, Cohen guides participants through building a 30-day messaging calendar, a structured, habit-based approach to daily communication inspired by the same principles behind modern habit-formation research. The practice helps parents, senior living communities, and business teams rebuild trust and connection across generational lines, one intentional message at a time.
Cohen is available for speaking engagements, workshops, and media interviews on topics including presence and technology, parenting in the digital age, cross-generational communication, and messaging strategy for brands and leaders.
